Display case for trucks in 1/24

Hi
I'm making a display case for trucks. I'm building this case to store trucks, to protect them from unwanted poeople who like to touch, to protect them from the dust...

So.
This is the picture how it should have looked when finished.

It is going to be sited on a wooden surface.

And some other accerssories for the surface.

And on we go.
I've joined the wooden panels and made an outside layout. The crossed part is going to be sawed away.

And on we go.
The basic form of the surface.

The problem is, that it is simply too big. So I decided to cut it down.
I just don't know how to cut.
On 2 sides:

On upper side:

On left side:

We'll see.

And some progress on this project.
This is how big the floor was meant to be. And the crossed part then went away, beacuse it was simply too big for transporting it.

This is the final size of it.

And this is how it is going to be like. The wooden part will be road and the green parts are going to be grass.

Nothing :rot: :rot:. Those lines are just the remains of many diferent positions and plans. But now they don't mean nothing.

Apology, but we misunderstood ourselves there.
I mean the bevel of the Plexi - hood.
Why does this corner go so far upward?

10

Donnerstag, 18. Mai 2006, 08:39

Ooooo.
Sorry. It goes so high up because it is made for this trailer:

AH!!!!
Now I understand! So that you can represent the trailer tilted.
Mad idea, needs however a relatively large place.

12

Samstag, 20. Mai 2006, 15:55

The frame is done.

Now what follows is:
- removing tha nails;
- glueing the frame on the board;
- leveling ( getting all of the surface in the same level ).
And then we will see.

Nails are removed. Parts made out of wood for the surface are made.

Glued in their positions.

The metal parts are now also covered.

And the filling of small holes and gaps is in proccess with polystyrol plates 0,2mm thick. The purpose of doing this, is to totaly level the surface and because of the 0,2mm thickness of this plates, the road won't be flat like glass. When finished, the surface is meant to look like a macadam road ( I hope that's the wright expression ).

Thank you all for your comments.

moin,
I believe it become a very complex Diorama. Is the material for the road there in the bag?
You want "to pour" the lining? I use mostly rough sandpaper for road vouchers.

15

Freitag, 26. Mai 2006, 00:32

Yes half of the material is in that bag. It's sand from railway models in1/87 scale. It is going to be mixed with a black sand on this picture from the top of this theme.

I don't want to use sandpaper, because I want it to look as real as possible.

The rod part of the diorama is painted in silver color, so that if any holes in the sand appear, they won't be so visible.

The sand mixture is ready.

Edges are painted in green color.

Putty is added, so that after some work with sandpaper, the road should have some small bumps ( macadam road is never straight ) but no holes.

That's it for now.

Comments are welcome :)

Work with sand paper is finished.
And the glueing of the macadam road started. I'm using glue for wood.

As you can see here. Glue layer is about 3-5 mm thick, leveled with a small brush, and then sand is put on. I put too much sand, so that everything is covered 100 %. Just in case, if some parcial spot wasn't covered with sand, that's why I used glue for wood, because when hardened, it goes from white to transparent color.

That's all for now.

Hi

After ending the road section, I started putting on some grass on the side of the road ( grass is also from railway models ).

All of the grass is on.
And I decided to make a stone with the name of the plexi cover producer.
You can see it next to the jar.
I used ultra-wood ( as we call it ) and shaped the edges by cutting it with a scalpel ( surgents knife :nixweis: ).

And the finish is near.
Piece of wood, that has been cut on edges, is now painted in gray, stone color.

And I also added some red bushes for decoration.

That's all for now.

And it is finaly finished.
The decoration is complete.

O. And one thing I really love about it. The plexi cover is made out of only 3 plates!!! One the back side, one the front side, and one on the top.

And some pictures with the truck for which it has been made.
Without the cover:

And with the cover:

moin,
first-class work, this showcase succeeded to you genuinly.
The road surfacing is convincing. The Dio works with the large hood genuinly gigantically.

Hi Matjaz.

It's a really nice Truck/Trailer Combination you've build. :ok: :ok:
It looks great.

About your Plexi-Case. How did you glued it together. I have already build three Plexi-Cases
of my own. But sometimes i have Gluemarks on the connection surfaces. Do you have a hint for me to avoid those Marks.

Best Regards
Andy III.
Viele Grüße, der Babbsack!
