Scania R164 Swedish long haulage

Hello this is my first time here. I have been working on a Scania R164 6X4 configured as a typical Swedish long haulage truck (24 meters). The model is the Italeri 3819 TopClass. Actually I have used two of those in order to make the 6X4 version. Normally this type of long haulage truck should be a 6X2 but it was easier to make it a 6X4 this time.

Hi Hakan!

Welcome here!
Wow, great Truck :ok: It looks really good! How long is the chassis now? Have you already started building the trailer?

And now we have a SCANIA-Expert here... ;) :tanz:

Hello Christian!

Thank you for the comments! The axle distance on the truck is thought to be 4500mm so on the model it is 188mm. The total length of the chassis of the model is 395mm.
Yes I have actually started on the trailer as well. I am using the Italeri kit 3813 “Flora Flowers” as a base. I have two of those kits as well since I needed the rigid box to the truck as well. Also the trailer is going to be a 4-axle trailer. I will update with more pictures of the truck and the building of the trailer as well when I have the possibility.

Hi Hakan!

Beautiful Scania!
What colour did You use for the chassis? I like it very much. Looks very realistic at all.

Cheers:

RE: Scania R164 Swedish long haulage

Hello Russel!

The colour for the chassis is called Anthracite grey and is very close to the Scania original Sub grey chassis colour that is used in production.

Regards
Hakan

RE: Scania R164 Swedish long haulage

Hi Hakan!

Thanks for the answer! I think it is Revell make. For me that colour is quite Scania-ish! Good choice.
More pix please!
Keep on rolling!

Hi Hakan.

Your truck looks great. Keep on the good work.

About the colors. Is it a own design or would you give it the painting of an existing company?

Egbert

Thank you very much for the comments! I have added a few features on the truck and that is the “moose guard” with the extra headlights and the chromed front hub covers, all from the Italeri No 720 Truck Accessories kit.
I will add some more pictures showing the painted trailer and finished model within shortly.

Hello again!

Here are now the pictures of the finished model of truck and trailer. I found the decals “AC Delco” on a Swedish site called www.flagstore.se
Since the size was suitable and they were available in red I decided to go for them.
This was a fun project all the way and I must say that I learned a lot and gained experience during its progress. One big contribution to that is this great site, so thanks Wettringer for this great forum !

Best regards
Håkan
