Caterpillar D11R

Hi everyone!

This is my first theme on this forum.
I would like to introduce you the model of the Caterpillar D11R, originally D9L.

The original model was radio controlled and had rubber tracks. It's really old (about 16 years) and so the tracks are damaged and basically do not exist anymore. When I've found it in the attic, I instantly got an idea that I could rebuilt it for a diorama or just for the heavy load on a lowloader.

However, the pictures will tell you more than my words ;)

Any comments, suggestions and questions are welcome

RE: Caterpillar D11R

Hi Rok,

you really do a fanastic job on the Cat.
Is it reallly 1:24/25?
I think I've seen it in a local toy shop a couple of years ago.
Tell us abotu the tracks, please. They look great and sturdy. It looks to me that you made them from brass sheet. Or did you use hinges from a D-I-Y-shop?
And the shovel is a great piece of work ,too!
More of this model (and your models in general) please!

Regards
karsten

Hi!

I'm glad you like it

I think it's in 1:18 but I will rebuilt it so it will look like it's in 1:24 ;)
The tracks are made of normal hinges (5x5cm) from local store.
The shovel is really great, it's almost completed, I just have to work on a few details....pictures will follow! It took me a lot of time to biult it, especially to cut all the neccesary parts and pices.

Hi!

Little progress ;)

You can see the whole process of making the hydraulic cylinder. The pipes for oil will come at the end, when I'll make both cylinders for the shovel.

The whole cylinder is made only from pipe profiles:

And again the Cat with the shovel:

That's all for now! ;)

Hi Kurtl!

I'm happy to see such a coment  but I think that there are some modellers who deserve this title more than me, after all I have to finish this modell first and than we will see if I'm really that good or not, don't you agree

Any way, thanks for the gesture ;)

Nice regards, Rok
