Freightliner FLD 120 - ITALERI 1/24

Hello to all members,

3 months ago I began making up the Italeri 1/24 Freightliner FLD 120 model kit and finished it last week. I did not use the decals. For the paint I used Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red Spray, for the chassis I used DUPLI color matt black and for the undercoat DUPLI color coating spray.
When I was trying to glue the windshield vipers one of them felt from my hand on the hood of the truck :motz: :motz:
Glue sticked on the hood and looked bad. I took out the entire paint and re painted it.
Hope you like it. :ok:
Here are the pictures

WOW, that's a really perfect model of this truck!! The color makes it even better than the "normal" blue one with flames, I think.

Did you repaint the hole truck after the failure?
Viele Grüße, David

:ok:

Thank your for your nice comments. Because I have 2 boxes of same kit I decided to paint this one to a metallic red color and after all work I saw that its better than a dark blue color.
When I finished painting of the hood, I applied the flame decals on it. Usually I dont apply but this time I tried to do it. I used microsol and applied it carefully. When they dried entirely I did not like the view so decided to take them out for a simple look.
It was not that easy. I applied detergent, a little warm water but nothing changed. Most of the pieces stayed on the paint. :!!
I applied a sandpaper on the paint to make a 2. coat of spray.
It was ok.
I painted all other details, engine, chasis, cabin parts.........
Time came for assembling. All parts came together but when I looked up to the entire truck I saw that the color tone of the hood was different then other parts :bang:
I said I will do nothing and finish it like that. I tried to glue the windshiled vipers to their place. Suddenly the part escaped from the tweezers and felt on the hood with the glue on it. :bang: :bang:
It was really horrible.... The tone was not same and the glue stucked on it.
Again I took the hood out, threw it in hydraulic to take the paint of for a 3. paint work.
It took 1 week of me. :cracy:
Also the hood did not fit on the truck well from both sides. There was app. 2 mm space between the driver cabin and the hood.
I found a great solution for it. On most American truck I see that the hoods never fit perfectly to driver cabins. Either on the left or rgiht side mostly they have space 1-2 mm.
Once upon a time I bought very small but powerful magnets to use somewhere. :)
I decided to use them on this truck. I put 2 small magnets under the hood on the left and right side. also I put 2 small ones under the right and left panels where the chrome parts are attached.
To make sure, I drilled the holes located on front side of the hood.
They were small and preventing hood to fit its place. They were big enough and I used small metal pins to make the hood go back more then usual.
With this solution the hood gone back for 2 mm and the magnets pulled the hood down to its original place :tanz: :tanz:
I have a great truck collection of 1/24 ITALERI kits. Colleciton includes unopened 100 quantity boxes.
Making them will take about 50 years. Hope I never give up and my wife in the future will not say anything about my hobby.
:rot:
Best wishes to all.......

Hello

After a long time I will try to finish my scratch work triple axle Scania + effer crane by the end of this week. This time it will be different because I cloned most of the parts by myself
Take care
