Daf XF105 SSC POL-MAT

This is my new project,

first I needed to alter the roof if it was to go ahead,

sand of all detail and fill

after a couple of failed attempts and a natter with Howard at KFS I got to here

then after more attempts I got to here

this is now it, not quite accurate but it will do for me,

Next on the list to make is a long range fuel tank and a locker, adblue kit odered from Howard at KFS

Hello All,

I added a strip of 20 thou card down the inside of each chassis rail, before cutting the tank, battery box and spare wheel carrier,
from the rails, this is to stop the chassis from warping when filling the holes in afterwards, once everything was off, bits of scap strip
were put into the holes, these will be sanded flush later.

Thats all for now

Ron

I have now made the fuel tank, first I made a box, and using a small electric sander made the shape I wanted, finishing off with a finer sandpaper,
it will be primed to see any imperfections and these will then be made good.

Then work was started on the adblue package from KFS, first needed to make a larger tank
as KFS one is only 50 litre and real truck has a 100 litre, a small part was made also for the frame
between frame and locker, finally a locker was made from scratch.

and now the real thing

Now to start work on the brackets that fix these to the chassis, as well as putting the
suspension and drivetrain together

Thats all for now

Ron

Hello All,

Not done anything to this for a while, finished off my Betz Actros, now back to this,
have made the tank brackets and mounted to the chassis, also made the straps as well.

The fotos show the parts and temporarily assembled.

The tank was primed and a few defects have to be filled and sanded, then it will be ready
for spraying.
Have to finish the adblue package and locker box, sort out the exhaust, then the chassis will
be ready for painting.

More soon, hopefully

Ron

Hi Ron,

great project, and i´m impressed by your details (brackets and stripes) on the tank. Looks right like original :)
Don´t forget to make rubbers under the stripes (i.e. from black isolation tape?)

Greetings
Gruß Paddy

Evening All,

Been a while since I posted in this so here gooes,

I haven't done a lot recently for various reasons, but am now determined to finish for Gaydon.

The tank has now been finished and installed on the chassis

Also had to re route the exhaust, as on a left hooker the exhaust exits between the front wheelarch and derv tank.

now to get on with the interior painting
